Meadow Flowers for Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo.

There is still time to play along with the Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo August challenge !
The theme is meadow flowers and you can make whatever you  like.
Thats all there is to it to win some great 7 Dots Studio prices.

I used the picture of my daughter in laws headband, made from meadowflowers of the Swiss alp.
The yellow Dylusion paint was very very hard to work with.
I love the colors, but they dry out very easely.
I took the whole thing out of the jar in one piece, it feels like plastic.
But after heating it a little I was able to spread it out with my palette knife.
It sure gives texture :)

Two for the boys.

For my first layout I used the beautiful Seaside Cottage collection.
Perfect papers to scrap your beach pictures.

For a beachy and masculine feeling I used textured modeling paste,
in my background and on my chipboard.

First I colored the title with distress ink.
Than I added the texture paste with a pallette knife.
The seaside Flourish chipboard piece was first stippled with the paste.
Than I added different colors of embossing powder in the still wet paste.
I heated up just a few parts of the powder.
After it dryed here and there a little raw paste to give that beach feeling.
********

My second layout has more of a tender feeling.
I wanted a soft natural look.
In the background stamping with a blue color ink that matched perfect with the blue from the paper.
Softened up with white ink.

I love the Wild Field chipboard and I think it matched perfect with the stamped background.
I left it natural and just brushed on a little white ink to set some highlights.
The chipboard is totally flat on the paper, but because of the highlights it becomes depth.
The roses were left in their natural color, just got some white ink here and there.
To keep the page in that soft natural color I left the title just plain .

Thank you for visiting the blog.
I hope you liked my post.

I like to use crazy stuff on my layouts ... mixed media layout for Scraps of Darkness.

Another layout with the July kit from Scraps of Darkness.

Offcourse I have a lot od scrapbooking  supplies...
But sometimes it is just fun to use things thats around you in layouts.
My background paper came from the kit.
I loved it , but before I knew I altered it completly  with the sprays that came with the kit.
I had this picture in mind, so I had to use some purple too.
The flourishes are made with the stencil from the kit and stuff to fill  holes in the wall.
I use it a lot on paintings and they have it very cheap in different concistency..
Here I used the ultra fine.
I took the pretty Prima flowers and made a few myself aswell .
With the same stamp that I used in the background.

Cut some leave shapes from  one of the beautiful kaisercaft papers.
On my paintings I love to use wax that drops down from my candles.
I always has funny shapes and gives great texture.
I took two small pieces from the wax to add it on this layout.
Life is full of fun stuff that can be used  :)

Thanks for visiting my blog and comments.
I always read them with pleasure

Mermaid canvas for Scraps of Darkness..

Finally I was able to finish the first project with the stunning July kit.

There was some yarn  in the kit as usual and also a pocket with seashells.
I dont use them on layouts, because I always try to keep my layouts flat.
I promissed my granddaughter a canvas for her room, so I used the shells on this 5x10 canvas.

I mixed the shells and yarn with gesso and sand.
Mixed the whole thing and when it was still wett I add it to the canvas.
Give the blurry I made some shape and let it dry like that.
Than I spraypaint it with bronze spray.
I than sprayed here and there with the two colors from the color add on.
Mixed it with Finnabair paint I got from previous kits.

I also added a little more gold on the upperside of the canvas right over the bronze .
To get the feeling that the light shines from above under the water.
The BFS chipboard frame is coated with gesso and lightly painted in the same colors.
The mermaid dipped with gesso and stipple brush.
After that also bronze spraypaint.
I hope my granddaughter will love it, although she asked for pink :)
Pink coming up next time for her....

Circles and friends , my DT mixed Media layout for August More Than Words challenge.

"I hear a lot of people say: 'My daughter is also my friend.'  I can't see my daughters as FRIENDS, no matter how much fun we have. They are so much more than that! I would give my life for them, which I wouldn't do for a friend (sorry, friends! :P).  For the creative challenge, I used a few chipboard pieces
with a cluster of CIRCLES pattern."
All I used on this layout is Blue Fern Studios.
The background made with many colors BFS embossingpowder.
The paper, chipboard and even the flowers are BFS

Our MAIN challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.
This challenge is open to layouts, canvases and art journal pages only.

Word Inspiration - FRIENDS
Creative Challenge - CIRCLES

Use the word FRIENDS as inspiration for your project.
You can choose to add the word itself somewhere on your project
or simply be inspired to create from it.
Please explain in your blog post how the word inspired you, if it not already obvious.

We thought that the word "friends" would go perfectly with a CIRCLES creative challenge! "Circle of friends", "Friendship circle", get it? So we want to see circles on your project, as many as you want, however you want. Round and round, until we get dizzy with creativity!

VERY IMPORTANT!  You have to incorporate both requirements of the challenge, the word inspiration AND the creative challenge, on your project to be eligible to win. Just look at our DT members' creations as example. Also, remember that you must include our board image
and a link to our blog in your entry post.
Please check out our rules in the RULES tab above!

3 mixed media layouts with video for Blue Fern Studios.

So happy to show you two layouts with the new Seaside Cottage collection.
It was a last minute, since I just got my papers in, but I managed .
Scrapbooking is a great hobby to  relax after busy days at work :)

My first choice of the collection is this SUPER background paper.
It is the B-side from the Mermaid paper.
The Seaside collection has a lot of great background papers for more masculine pages.
And the boys have to be scrapped too .

I am not sure or I  did it ever before,
but I found out that alcohol ink is perfect for coloring chipboard.
It dryes quick, covers in one time and gives a beautiful mat finish.
Besides that it soakes into the chipboard ,  so the sides are colored too.

In the background I used Gold embossing powder and two  colors alcohol ink.
If I may say so myself...LOVE IT
*******

The second layout I made is also from the Seaside Cottage collection.
Its called Gala.
And yes, also the B-side..
I just love that paper with the Italian map image and the beautiful old color rosa.

The ornate frame was first embossed with oatmeal.
After that I brushed it with distress ink which was the right color for me.
I gave it a quick spray with a sealer to make the ink stay.
In the background I used Ginger embossingpowder
*******

My last layout is made on a pattern paper from the Tranquility collection.

I can explain what I did, but it is much easyer to watch the video I made .
A start to finish process video.
I hope you find the time to watch it here:

We can’t wait to see where all your creative ideas take you!
The challenge will open for entries on July 11th and close on August 12th. The winner will receive a $100 DecoArt Gift Card for use in our Online Store so you will certainly want to submit a piece or two!

My designteam project has everything to do with the fact that our oceans are sick.
I saw a documentary how much fish is dying.
And it scared me....
When the ocean dies, we die..

I started with black Gesso and Cobalt turqoise and Blue green light.
Dabbing and adding the paint and gesso .

On some parts metallic gold

Than various colors paint and mist.

With a stencil and modeling paste I layered fish .
The stencil was perfect for what I had in mind .
A lot of dead fish criss cross oveer each other .
I did many layers , not looking for exact fishes.

When I was happy with the result I drybrushed metallic paint over all the raised aereas.
It let my fish stand out from the color behind.

I liked this page to add it to cardboard.
I first painted it with white gesso.

The link for the challenge here ..
Good luck and thanks for visiting my blog...

Designteam Layout for More than Words with video.

It is time to share my DT layout for
More Than Words July Challenge....

When I saw the word SMILE as inspiration, I couldn't choose between the Mona Lisa theme or this picture of my daughter, so I used both!
It's like my daughter is daring the Mona Lisa to give her one of her best smiles!

What does the word SMILE inspire you to create?
You can choose to add the word somewhere on your project or simply
be inspired to create from it. Please explain in your blog post
how the word inspired you, if not already obvious.

For the Creative Challenge, use this fabulous SKETCH designed by our very own DT member, Helen Hapsi. Feel free to turn the sketch in any direction your prefer. You can interpret any element of it as you wish, as long as
we can see that it was the basis of your creation.

Mixed Media layout discover, Scraps of Darkness

Third layout with the  Scraps of Darkness  May kit.
My starting point was one of the Blue Fern Studios papers.
They are so great for mixed media !
I even like them better as watercolor paper.
Since I thought the result was too busy, I punched 3 sizes of circles from the paper.
Took another paper as my background.
Also one from the tranquility collection from the kit.

A little gesso here and there, and the Prima paints from this and the previous kit .
The chipbord was embossed with a few colors that matched the paint.
The butterfly was a papercutout from the kit.
I embossed it two times (mix blue and yellow embossing).
When the embossing was still a little soft I  carved some lies in it with something pointy..

The insect is soft package paper that I glued over the paint.
The paper was very thin, like tissuepaper.

I didnt want the girls to get lost in that big wood, so I "caged "them with circle leftover paper.
In the background I used a stencil from stencilgirls (the lovely three bird stencil).
A few small wooden flowers and sprayed  cheesecloth .

Three Mixed Media layouts for Blue Fern Studios..

For this layout I used the monthly sketch from Blue Fern Studios which you will find here.
Orange is a favorite color for me, to use in vintage aswell as modern layouts.
This picture shows my daughter ready for travelling on the station.
The whole scene gave me a vintage feeling. I love that picture.
My starting point was the KEY paper (B-side).
I use mostly B-sides of papers, no intention, I just like them better ..

For the orange color I  used beads
I colored the white daisies with the orange heart with paint and gesso.
Afterwards I felled sorry for this, because 1 week later my son married.
And what had the bride in her bouquet??? White daisies with a orange heart !
And my beautiful white ones are used....
The lamppost is grunged up with embossing , gesso and paint.
To mimic the brigthness where the lightsource comes from I used golden paint ,
over golden embossing

*******

Second layout is also based on the June sketch.....
It was supposed to be  masculine, since I used a photo from one of my sons.
But there is a difference for me  between very masculine pictures for example in black and white.
This picture is in soft colors , so I did not overdo the masculine theme.
I started with the Sachet paper ( B-side)  out of the Attic charm collection.
My favorit without a doubt..
Colored the background with pastels and water., but left the beautiful pattern to show through.
In the background there are a few soft flowers that I covered up with gesso and my photocluster.
With a black perlpen, I draw random figures.
Than with a mask some greyish/blue inking.
The chipboard is a frame piece ,  one of the clipboard set.
I cut it up, used one as my love you title and the rest here and there over the layout.
I made a mix from nutmeg and oatmeal powder.
The color gets less intensive because of the oatmeal.
Tip for summerlayouts: Oatmeal is super for beachthemes!

The titel is just inked up with black drawing ink
*******

My last layout for today is also in green/orange  Like the first one.
It just came out this way :)
Although the orange is not that obvious like the first layout.

The start of the layout was on the beautiful Generation paper (Yes, again the B-side).
Starting off with two colors orange ink.  (offcourse first clear gesso )
Random heavy gesso, and than different shades of green embossing sprinkled over the background.
I have many many colors Blue Fern Studios embossing powder.
It is  such a luxury to pick the colors out of the whole range.
Here I used verdant and Lime..
Heatset it.
Than with a foliage stencil again heavy gesso.

The chipboard pieces I used are all embossed with pearl embossing powder.
Flourish, winter page dangle and title.

I hope you liked my post.
